What is the DELF Prim?

The DELF Prim is an official diploma awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify the proficiency in French as a Foreign Language for children ages 8 to 11. Conceptualized with content specific to children and their knowledge of French, young learners can earn certificates for all three levels: DELF Prim A1.1, DELF Prim A1 and DELF Prim A2, corresponding to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The exam topics are created to correspond to the age group’s interests: immediate environment (family, personal details, interests, friends), everyday situations, etc. The following linguistic skills will be assessed:

• Listening Comprehension
• Reading Comprehension
• Written Expression
• Oral Expression/Interaction

Each candidate needs to obtain at least 50 points out of 100, where each skill section also has at least 5 points to pass the exam and earn this diploma.

Fees must be paid in full at the time of registration. You may pay online, by credit card over the telephone, or by check to the order of Alliance Française de Pasadena.

The exam fee is not refundable once registered

What Is the DELF Junior?

The DELF Junior (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française) is an official French language certification for teenagers, awarded by the French Ministry of Education. It is designed to certify the French language proficiency of young learners outside of France. Like all DELF diplomas, the DELF Junior is valid for life and internationally recognized.

The DELF Junior is composed of four independent diplomas corresponding to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): A1, A2, B1, and B2. Each level assesses the four core language skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking.

This version of the DELF is specifically adapted for teenagers, with topics, tasks, and formats that reflect their age, interests, and academic context. According to programme-flam.fr, the DELF Junior is also open to French citizens living in non-francophone countries and enrolled in local school systems.

Students may take the DELF Junior exam at:

• Alliance Française of Greater Phoenix

To secure your place, we must receive both the completed registration form and full payment. Registrations are only confirmed once all documents are submitted.

Exam Fees, Payment & Important Information

All exam fees must be paid in full at the time of registration in order to confirm your place. Payment for French language certification exams (DELF, DALF, TCF) may be made by credit card (in person or by phone), or by check or money order payable to the Alliance Française de Pasadena.

Once registered, candidates will receive an official exam notification from their exam center after February 26, 2025, including detailed information about the test location, schedule, and instructions.

Please note that the written exam begins at 9:00 am PST. Candidates are required to arrive early, as late arrivals may not be admitted.

The DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) and the DALF (Diplôme Approfondi en Langue Française) are official diplomas awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify foreign candidates’ proficiency in French.

The DELF and the DALF certificates are made up of 6 independent diplomas corresponding to the 6 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CECR): DELF A1, DELF A2, DELF B1, DELF B2, DALF C1 and DALF C2.

As the Alliance Française de Pasadena is the main exam center, you must always contact the Alliance Française de Pasadena for the registration.
