What is the DELF Prim?

The DELF Prim is an official diploma awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify the proficiency in French as a Foreign Language for children ages 8 to 11. Conceptualized with content specific to children and their knowledge of French, young learners can earn certificates for all three levels: DELF Prim A1.1, DELF Prim A1 and DELF Prim A2, corresponding to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The exam topics are created to correspond to the age group’s interests: immediate environment (family, personal details, interests, friends), everyday situations, etc. The following linguistic skills will be assessed:

  • Listening Comprehension
  • Reading Comprehension
  • Written Expression
  • Oral Expression/Interaction

Each candidate needs to obtain at least 50 points out of 100, where each skill section also has at least 5 points to pass the exam and earn this diploma.

What is the DELF Junior?

DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) is an official qualification awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify the competency of candidates from outside France in the French language. These diplomas are valid for life. DELF is composed of four independent diplomas that correspond to the levels of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

Information below, pertains to the specially adapted version of the DELF diplomas for teenagers. As stated at programme-flam.fr, DELF Junior version is also open to all young French citizens who reside in any non-francophone country and who are schooled in local institutions.

The DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) and the DALF (Diplôme Approfondi en Langue Française) are official diplomas awarded by the French Ministry of Education to certify foreign candidates’ proficiency in French.

The DELF and the DALF certificates are made up of 6 independent diplomas corresponding to the 6 levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CECR): DELF A1, DELF A2, DELF B1, DELF B2, DALF C1 and DALF C2.

You can also take the DELF tests  (A1, A2, B1, B2) at the Alliance Française de Los Angeles and at the Alliance Française of Greater Phoenix. 

As the Alliance Française de Pasadena is the main exam center, you must always contact the Alliance Française de Pasadena for the registration.
